Welcome

To The Champion Community

“Vic” at LOT 47, Delight Way

Vic was born in Mosman Park, at a place known as Chidley Point, where he lived his entire life. One of ten children, he grew up in a bustling, close knit household that shaped his resilience and sense of community. Vic began working at fifteen as a vehicle trimmer and upholsterer — a trade he mastered over decades, still using the same sewing ma chine he started with. He later worked for Dulux as a manufacturer, spending years driving forklifts and trucks with steady reliability, then retiring at the age of 60.

From the age of fifteen, Vic was also part of the Cottesloe Surf Life Saving Club, dedicating countless weekends to res cuing and resuscitating swimmers, and developing a lifelong love of surfing. A devoted animal lover, he shared his life with dogs, cats, and guinea pigs. Though he travelled — even visiting Bangkok — Vic always said, “there is no place like home,” a sentiment that perfectly reflects his deep connection to Perth and the life he built there.

Family has always been at the heart of his world: one daughter, two sons, seven grandchildren, and six great grand children. Vic chose this Village because it’s practical, convenient, and suits the way he likes to live. He’s looking for ward to enjoying the pool and is especially excited for the new hobby shed once it’s built.

Village Blanket Drive Success

The Village Blanket Drive ran for about 2 weeks at the end of May. It proved to be very successful.

Thanks to the generosity of residents over 60 blankets, quilts and comforters have been donated to Crossways in Kelmscott.

We were also able to donate 55 pairs of gloves, 30 beanies and 17 scarves and shawls. There were also a few sleeping bags and a few pet items in the mix.

Mel from Crossways Community Services in Kelmscott came to collect the items on Tuesday 2 June. Thanks to members of the Needlecraft groups for sorting, checking, counting, packing and loading all the donations. And thank you so much to all those who donated or made items for the blanket drive.

It is such a privilege to be able to help out those in need or living rough.

BIGGEST MORNING TEA

Tuesday 9th June at 10.30 am in the Lodge

Many thanks to all those who attended the Biggest Morning Tea.

We had 6 delicious entries for the Men’s Bake Off competition. Judging was not easy, as all entries were of a high standard.

Congratulations to Bob Mills who won the Judges’ and People’s Choice and to Tom Watson for a beautifully decorated lemon cake. There was also a lovely selection of food supplied by the residents attending. Dave Ullah won the Door Prize. Thanks to Sue for putting the prizes together. Great work everyone.
