FUNNIES OF THE MONTH

WELCOME TO THE CHAMPION COMMUNITY

Jenny & Alan Pratt – Lot 22

We are delighted to welcome Jenny and Alan Pratt who have recently moved into Lot 22 at 2 Inspire Loop.

They are accompanied by their Little Maltese/ Schitzu dog called Prince who is 9 years old and loves to accompany Alan on his walks around the village. Prince is quite a worrier and doesn’t like being left alone.

Alan and Jenny are both from Berkshire, England, and came to Perth 46 years ago. They have lived in several areas around the Perth Hills and in other locations South of the River. They have enjoyed travelling around Australia and have also lived in Melbourne and on the Mornington Peninsular. They returned to the Perth area in 2018 and lived in Byford prior to moving into the village. Unfortunately, Alan has been spending some time in hospitals mainly Fiona Stanley and Fremantle, and therefore they required to place themselves closer to medical services for convenience.

Alan loves Carpentry and was a Boat Builder. He is also interested in cooking.

During her professional career, Jenny was a Medical Secretary at Royal Perth Hospital mainly, but also other Hospitals in the metro area. She is interested in Animal Welfare and has also worked in this area. Jenny loves doing crosswords and reading, and they both love watching Tennis.

Since moving in, they have enjoyed meeting the friendly people in the village and look forward to saying hello to the many residents they pass when they go for their walks with Alan on his walker and Prince right beside them.

Carol Bowman – Lot 3

A warm welcome also goes to Carol Bowman, a very energetic lady who has moved into Lot 3, whilst she awaits the construction phase to be completed on her forever home at Lot 57, 4 Tradition Road.  She is accompanied by her dog called Chook, who is a very friendly 8-year-old Kelpie Cross who loves attention.

Carol enjoys attending the gym in Kelmscott and is also a member of the Masters’ Athletics Association as a middle-distance runner. Her special interests are the 400m & 800m races, which she is regularly able to compete in.

Carol loves horses and enjoyed the opportunity of working with them from the age of 14 at a riding school in Geraldton. During her career, she has worked with animals in a variety of roles until taking up nursing 20 years ago. She has been at the Parkview Aged Care Facility many years and is still working full time in Aged Care. With a passion for horses, she still owns a 20-year-old Horse called Mardi which is now in a centre for retired horses in Bridgetown, and she likes to visit whenever possible. Prior to moving into the Village, she resided on a property in Darling Downs where she was able to look after Mardi before selling up and coming to join us all and enjoying the Champion Lifestyle at our Village.

THE ‘SCENE’ AROUND AT CHAMPIONS LAKE

Country and Western Evening

Residents enjoyed a fabulously successful Country and Western night in the Village Clubhouse on Saturday 14th May, with a big special thank you going to John & Lou for the sourcing and supply of the hay bales which really set the scene upon entry and Les for tending to the amazing Spit Roast meat enjoyed by all.

The Heartbeat band played great music all night long and also provided entertainment with their joke repertoire in between songs.

Many residents pitched in and helped make it a great night. Well done team Social – Champion Lakes Lifestyle Village!!!!

Scones, Jam & Cream Mornings

The monthly scone, jam & cream mornings are going from strength to strength at the Village. Here’s a couple of photos of the delicious treats served up and enjoyed by our resident community on a regular basis.

We would like to give a massive thanks to our tireless and very talented home cook Dawn for assisting in creating this initiative a couple of months ago and continuing to cook up a storm for us all from her very own kitchen!!

ANNUAL LEAVE

Leah will be heading North to escape the winter cold from the 27th of June until the 15th of July. Fiona will be covering in the office on Tuesdays and Thursdays, should residents require assistance.

INTRODUCTION OF NEW STAFF MEMBER

As our village goes from strength to strength and to support the growing needs of the cleaning requirements at our site particularly in the areas of the new build cleans plus the pool and lodge area’s we are delighted to welcome Tia Turner to our team.

If you see Tia on-site, please be sure to introduce yourself and say hello. Herself and Sue we are sure will be a great team collectively keeping our village spick and span as we continue to expand rapidly!!

COMMUNITY GARDEN

Our community garden continues to remain available for all to use and enjoy. It’s been great to see residents meeting up on a Thursday between 1pm – 2pm and toiling away and having a laugh.

Remember, all residents are welcome to come along with your snippers and ideas at that time or another time that is convenient to yourself. The garden crew would be happy to see you and all skill levels are very welcome!!!

RESIDENT BUY, SWAP OR SELL

The notice board in the lodge now has a small section dedicated to items that residents may want to Buy, Swap or Sell.

Not everyone visits the lodge so to ensure your Buy, Swap, Sell items get full coverage we will compile a list each month of the items on the board and attach it to the minutes of our monthly committee meetings so that all residents are aware of what items are available.

WEEKLY ACTIVITY SCHEDULE

Don’t be a stranger!! Find an activity and come join in the fun and interaction with your neighbours happening across your Village.
